Our teeth whitening fees are based on the Minimum Fee Schedule of the TDB (Turkish Dental Association). The exact fee is set after the examination. It depends on the chosen method (in-office, at-home, combined or internal), the number of sessions, whether one or both arches are treated, any prior treatment needed such as scaling, fillings for decay or gum treatment, sensitivity management and follow-up visits.
How is the cost of teeth whitening determined?
The cost of teeth whitening is based on the minimum fee schedule published by the Turkish Dental Association and on the treatment plan found to suit you at your examination. That is why there is no single fee that applies to everyone.
"How much does teeth whitening cost?" is a very common question. However, two treatments with the same name can differ considerably in scope. For one person a single in-office session may be enough, while another may first need a scale and clean, followed by a combined programme.
- The framework used: the TDB Minimum Fee Schedule
- What decides it: the personal treatment plan drawn up at the examination
- When it is confirmed: after the examination and any necessary assessments are complete
What is the TDB Minimum Fee Schedule?
The TDB Minimum Fee Schedule is a tariff published every year by the Turkish Dental Association for dental procedures. In Turkey it forms the basic framework for pricing dental services.
Because the schedule is renewed each year, you can find up-to-date information from the association's own sources. At our clinic, fees are also set on the basis of this schedule; the amount specific to you is shared clearly once your treatment plan is in place.
The schedule shows the framework within which the fee is set. The examination shows which procedures you need and therefore the total fee.
What factors affect the cost?
The main factors affecting the cost of teeth whitening are the method, the number of sessions, the number of arches, any prior treatment needed, sensitivity management and follow-up visits. The table below summarises why these factors matter.
| Factor | Why does it matter? | What is checked at the exam? |
|---|---|---|
| Method | In-office, at-home, combined and internal whitening differ in materials, duration and chair time | The cause of the discolouration, expectations and lifestyle |
| Number of sessions | Some discolouration may need more than one in-office session or a longer at-home period | The starting shade and how the teeth respond to the gel |
| One or both arches | The number of teeth treated and the amount of material used change | The teeth visible when you smile and your preference |
| Prior treatment needed | Scaling, treatment of decay or gum treatment must be done before whitening | Gum health, decay, leaking fillings |
| Sensitivity management | Extra protective measures may be planned for people prone to sensitivity | Existing sensitivity, exposed root surfaces |
| Follow-up visits | With at-home and combined methods, follow-up appointments are part of the process | The chosen method and rate of progress |
This table deliberately has no price column. Fees are set according to a personal plan, based on the TDB schedule.
What changes depending on the method?
The method is the factor that affects the cost most, because each method differs in chair time, materials and follow-up needs. You can find an objective comparison of the methods on the teeth whitening methods page.
- In-office: Done at the clinic with the gums protected, using a gel activated by blue-violet light. A session usually takes 45–90 minutes. Details: light-activated teeth whitening.
- At-home: Custom trays are made and a low-concentration gel is usually used for 1–3 weeks. Details: at-home teeth whitening.
- Combined: An in-office session and an at-home period are planned together; this may be preferred for more stubborn discolouration.
- Internal whitening: Applied to a single dark tooth that has had root canal treatment; an X-ray and an assessment of the root filling are needed.
Why can't the fee be confirmed over the phone?
The fee for teeth whitening cannot be confirmed over the phone, because most of the information that determines it can only be obtained through an examination of the mouth. A figure given over the phone would reflect a hypothetical situation rather than your actual needs.
At the examination we assess:
- Whether there is tartar or surface staining
- Whether there is decay, a leaking filling or an exposed root surface
- Gum health
- Your current tooth shade, using a shade guide
- Whether the front teeth have fillings or crowns that will not whiten
- Whether whitening is suitable for you
Sometimes the examination shows that whitening is not suitable for now, or that a scale and polish alone will be enough. We explain who should postpone it on the who should not have teeth whitening page.

What about state hospitals and SGK cover?
Because teeth whitening is considered a cosmetic procedure, it is generally not offered at state hospitals or ADSM (Oral and Dental Health Centres, state-run dental clinics in Turkey). Scaling, on the other hand, is done at these institutions under SGK (Turkish Social Security Institution) cover, and appointments are made through MHRS (Turkey's central hospital appointment system).
Some university dental faculties may offer whitening for a fee. We recommend checking the current situation with the institution concerned. The details are on the teeth whitening at state hospitals page.
Does private health insurance cover whitening?
Standard supplementary health insurance in Turkey generally does not cover dental treatment; additional dental cover or a dental package is needed. Depending on the policy, dental packages may include examinations, X-rays, scaling, fillings and sometimes whitening.
Limits, caps on the number of treatments, waiting periods and co-payments vary by policy. You can find out what your policy covers from your insurance company. For details, see the private health insurance and dental treatment page.
What can you prepare before the examination?
Preparing a few pieces of information before your examination helps the plan and fee that suit you to be confirmed more quickly. At our clinic in Oran, Çankaya, we go over these points together at the examination.
- If you have had whitening before, when it was done and which method was used
- Whether you experience sensitivity
- Any medication you take and, if relevant, whether you are pregnant or breastfeeding
- A recent dental X-ray, if you have one
- Your policy details, if you have private health insurance
- Your expectations: a natural brightening, or preparation before a particular date?

Frequently asked questions
How much does teeth whitening cost?
Our fees are based on the TDB Minimum Fee Schedule. The exact fee is confirmed once the method, number of sessions and any prior treatment needed have been determined at the examination.
Can I find out the cost of teeth whitening over the phone?
We can give general information over the phone, but the exact fee cannot be set without an examination. Conditions that change the fee, such as tartar, decay or gum problems, can only be seen at the examination.
Do in-office and at-home whitening cost the same?
No. Because the methods differ in chair time, materials and follow-up needs, the fee also differs. The method that suits you is decided at the examination.
Is scaling included in the whitening fee?
Scaling is a separate procedure, and whether it is needed is decided at the examination. If it is needed, it is done before whitening and added to the treatment plan.
Does SGK cover teeth whitening?
Because whitening is considered a cosmetic procedure, it is generally not offered at state hospitals in Turkey. Scaling, however, is done at state hospitals and ADSMs under SGK cover.
